sorry to hear that, but the original guy in this thread, certainly did not suffer such a situation/fate.

so for him, (the guy in this thread) death may have been better, than a lifelong in a wheelchair

are these "tree stands", even American made?

are they cheap aluminum, (rather than steel) riveted rather than nut/bolted, ?

    do they have weight limits?

True, but no matter the circumstance, its not cool to poke fun at an accidental death. I hunt, alot of us on this forum hunt im sure. Would hate to think I'd get made fun of for falling out of a tree stand and dying.

Mostly american made, You get what you pay for, and most have a 250 to 350lb weight rating. Never heard of a case where the stand itself failed, majority of accidents ive heard of is either apon accent, descent, no safety harness and falling asleep, or broken tree limb. My relative had a broken tree limb that he used to pull himself up on, not a manufacturer defect. To each is own, most people cut corners on safety, and it comes back and bites them.

Yes they are usually aluminum and made in China and yes there are weight limits. Accidents usually occur when climbing or descending. If you pull both the upper portion and lower portion in the same direction at the same time you can really screw yourself. One or the other needs to have a secure contact with the tree at all times.
