My rotation is 15/6 - and since I live in kamloops and will be based out of Edson, for now I'll stay with keeping my house in Kamloops. I'm renting a loft in Edson for when I'm there and on my rotations off I'll just drive home as its only 7 hours or so..

You can transfer inter-company but I think you have to be with them for a year before you can transfer to another location, I like small town and while Edson isn't the best place in the world to be during the winter, the spring, summer and fall its really nice.

So I'm toying with buying a place maybe, or I might just drag a trailer up there and live in that. The wife isn't entirely keen on Edson living, she more would rather be in red deer or edmonton.

congrats onetrack. was there a deciding factor to go with sanjel over the other well servicing crews. what you posted sounds like the same as the company i'm with so not much different. just got signed off on the bulker and heading up north next week.

TBH they're the ones who called me.. I tried to get on with Tri-Can in hinton but they told me all their driving positions were filled. I applied in person to Haliburton, Schlumberger, Gas-Frac, Tri-Can, etc in Red Deer and got nuthin. This was during the winter shutdown

At the beginning of January, I happened to drive to Edson/Hinton to check out a few places, Sanjel was closed but I gave a resume to one of the O/O's who was there and had access to the building, the next day I was called / hired on the spot.

Still havnt heard from any of the other companies

WOW, old school job hunting where you actually go out and drive around and hand out resumes! I thought all that went way of the do-do bird when the PC was invented!

Good for you "onetrack", you have shown that getting off your duff and knocking on doors still actually brings results.

    Enjoy your new job!

WOW i guess i should check out our website more often. your right, hinton doesn't have any thing left and lloyd only has a couple places left. suprised red deer didn't call you as they have places left. any ways, congrats and hope you find it interesting. can't say it's going to be fun all the time though. good luck.

Ha, I bought my light truck in the last week of December, I've already put 6k km on it.. criss-crossing AB - mgfg is right, sending resumes doesn't accomplish anything, you have to be there handing it to them. I did get pulled in for interviews at a few places when I had my resume, Highway 9 was a good start for a newbie but Sanjel was going to pay a good deal more, gas-frac and trican in Red Deer interviewed me but said they didn't have any driver positions available. Formula Powell gave me a phone interview and they didn't have anything available unless I wanted to come in as a bottom of the rung swamper... but yea, I went to a lot of places, personally - sending resumes via the websites doesn't work, makes me wonder why they bother having the resources spent to put the postings up.
