Okay, I just recently for my Class 1 lisence a couple months ago and living on Vancouver Island in BC (retiree central) was almost impossible for me to find a job because their was so many close-to-retired truckers with YEARS experience and the economy here sucks. I just drove out to Alberta hearing that the need for drivers on the oil and gas camps was huge and that's where everyone goes to get their experience these days, sounded pretty promising.

all the career centers here and recruiting companies have been useless on giving me info.
Almost all the companies around are liquid bulk/frac/winch/oil tank/vac/heavy haulers for the oil camps and require experience because it's more than just driving.

Has anyone worked in a Alberta camp before?
Any info on some good companies that hire new drivers?
What's the best truck for a beginner to go in as a first job? I heard that shuntings good

I keep hearing the demand for class 1 drivers is HUGE but yet everyone shuts me down instantly because I'm new, no further negotiations...
