I would submit your O/O should be charging more. Work smarter not harder:biggrin_25525:

Thats how they keep those guys on the hook set them up so they have to run like their butt is on fire and their ears are catching.

Companies don't teach the new drivers how to "Rollover" their Recounts....

There used to be a member here who owns 3 or 4 trucks and not one of his guys ever "Restart"....
It can be done....And mainly works for vans and reefers because both load and unload on the weekends....Open-deck, it's tough to "Rollover" because most of our loading and unloading are done during the week and "Banker's Hours" at that....

That's not how an smart O/O works.....We get paid by the load.....Not miles....Miles cost us....As does the weight of the load.....

The key is to get the rate you need for less miles and less weight on the wagon.....

Less "Wear and Tear".....More money in our pockets.....

You still don't own the rig.....It's not for you to decide how high or low a truck may be governed...

Yeah I doubt it. The difference between Ethan and I is I run regional and get home for resets weekly. He's national. Anyone who runs national knows you can't work 11 daily without losing time in the long run for resets. He's making more money running 8-9 a day and not resetting than he would make if he ran the way you expect him to.

I am in the middle of a run from NC to CA and back at the moment. This trip my loading and delivery appointments prevented my doing a restart. I have had 8-9.5 hours to drive the last 3 days recapping. What I hate most is the 14-16 hour breaks each day. I am not the trash around the truck stop type.

Yep....It would be nice if shippers and receivers could honor their appointment times more often...

The classic for 'Bedders is USS in Houston....
0700 load time....You get there at 0630 to check in....You're lucky to start getting get loaded by 1500....Many times...They load a layer or two....Then take an hour break in between..... :biggrin_25526:

And this is not towards ethan or treefork. It is drivers in general.

Yop, OTR can run 8.75 hours per day to keep things rolling....

But if he's running 55 instead of 60, that means he needs to run 9.25 hours instead of the 8.75 to get the same amount of work done.

I run regional too and am home on my weekends to reset so I go to 10 1/2 -11 hours unless someone sticks me on a dock and I run against the 14 hour clock instead of the 11.

That also means if he takes his 14 hours on duty to run, so long as he's going to off-duty or Sleeper to take his breaks on the e-log, I wouldn't care either.

But when he burns line 3 or 4 and does so sitting in truckstops or rest areas or going slower than what the company has set the trucks to or the posted speed limit, that driver is taking productive time away from the company and his own paycheck.

Unless that person is on percentage.

It's likely why that company couldn't careless what the truck is set to. They have the money they are going to get. And since they have agreed to use PCMiler shortest miles as well as preventing the driver from running the allowed speed limit. Both cases shorting him miles.

Then yes, the company is stealing money from the driver.

Yeah the problem is a lot of people that call themselves O/O are actually L/O and are trained into that company mantra of loads, loads, miles,miles:biggrin_25513:

But, when the Co. still pushes the driver to do 3500 to 4000 miles per week in a nutted truck. and then he complains that he can't keep drivers. and there are to many log book violations, then he should get a brain and learn that being dictator on those trucks is costing him. He wants the best of what the drivers have and he wants all the profit. I am saying, it don't work. I gave my condition when I started and now there is only one person who has been with our company longer than I. I will leave to another pasture if my truck is governed below 72. so he keeps me at that and I still get the miles without having to be illegal to do it. the others.... Well he can't keep any.
