"It ain't easy bein' me" (Rodney Dangerfield, GRHS)! It's a crisp Monday morning in south Mississippi and I got nuttin' ta do. I've got 2 weeks off from my job as a school bus driver and I don't like it. Yeah, I'm happy that I'll have Christmas day off but that's about all I really need. Never been one to like too much time on my hands. At age 55 I don't think that's gonna change much - I've been this way all my life. And I don't want to change it. I guess that's why driving is so appealing. Now, I know that being a driver has its' ups and downs - mostly downs right now, I guess, but that's pretty much life in a nutshell. Truckers face some unique challenges to say the least, but ####, there's something about a challenge that still gets me motivated.
Another thing that's in my mind this morning. It's the holiday season! Gift-giving, lots of food, families and friends driving (long distances in some cases) or flying to be together for the holidays. How'd those gifts get to the stores?, how'd that food get to the stores?, how'd the jet fuel get to the airports?, how'd the gasoline get to the stations?, how'd those cars we're driving get to the dealerships?, how'd the individual parts to put together that jet get to the manufacturer?.......Ok, you get my drift so I'll stop with the rambling. Good morning, drivers, and thanks!
All dressed up and no place to go?

I gotta ask, why you waiting 'till next summer to start truck school? Oh, you bored for 2 weeks? How about washing/waxing all the buses in your fleet. Impress the Bossman, right?
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Hey i can empathize a little, just spent the last year doing nothing waiting for a green card, unable to work legally and unable to leave the US to work, had to turn down work in England and Australia just to get legal here. Thankfully January i will start truck school and get things underway.
I would also like to thank those here, who have been driving in difficult conditions to provide the goods everyone takes for granted. -

I wish I had this week off. My foster daughter just got in from TX and my other daughter picked her up at the airport. We're making deliveries and then heading to Utah....won't be back till Weds am. *sighs*

Seriously. I shop there and wish I lived close enough to shop there all the time. It's such a good store. -
