All the horror stories, i need clarity!

Its a hard life. They dont want you to cry about being away from home or have you quit the first time you get there. OTR experience is more about knowing that you know about the hardships and can be on your own out in the big bad world all by yourself with 150k + worth of equipment and possibly millions of dollars worth of freight without dumping the truck and taking a bus home. Sad fact about trucking.
