Where have I heard all this before?
I remember....from every driver with less than 3 years in the industry! Everybody will get the good paying local job...even if the local job means working 6 11 hour days, commute time and not enough time on the 7th day to get personal things done...been there, done that....oh yes with less than 3 years in the industry!
Good luck youngster!

No local jobs in my area unless you want to make less than 9.00 per hour, but then again, I will not worry about it.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
OOIDA is not a union in any sense of the word.
How much is your or your wifes time trying to monitor all the bills coming before congress, NPRM's from FMCSA and the Transportation dept?
How much is your time worth monitoring your state legislature?
Cost's me under $.13 a day. But if you want to work cheaper than that who am I to tell you your wrong?
Truckerjustice will only take a case when someone brings it to them.OOIDA is actively watching for cases such as the MN case they won on behalf of a member. -
I'll shut down on 4/1..
Unless of course a customer calls..otherhalftw Thanks this. -
I no longer think they are worth a penny a month.
It is the result of dealings with them while a member. -
Ahhh...the sounds of spring. Coming a bit earlier this year, though...Bluebirds twitting in the trees, cows lowing in the fields, and some random idiot calling for a "trucker's strike"...
By the way, all you newer, younger drivers complaining about $600-$800 weeks, come livein my area, where a two-income household might (MIGHT) see $600 per week...and then look at how they live. Cold homes, can't afford to turn up the heat cause the electric bill will double, or the oil furnace will run out, or the gas bill will increase beyond the household's ability to pay...More and more people depending on government assistance to afford food WHILE working full time, can't afford the ever increasing food prices (and we ain't talking Coke and potato chips here, folks...I mean actual food)...Plenty of retired folk who worked hard their whole lives, invested, and watched their retirement savings dissapear (while the government bailed out the banks that caused the whole mess), who are now dependent on government assistance and their children, who can barely afford to support themselves and families, much less parents...Yeah, that $600-$800/week single income don't sound so bad now, does it? And if you can't live off that, you need to reevaluate your economic priorities.
By the way, I supported my house, a car payment, and an aging parent all on $600-$800/week on average, and still had enough money left over to eat a hot meal everyday I was on the road, buy some toys, AND put some money into a savings account...enough to support my household monthly nut for six months after I left my last driving position while I looked for other work. So don't tell me it can't be done! -
I don't understand what the problem is?? You accepted the load for $1600 that means the pay was ok for you at that time, then you find out the broker made $600 and your POd?? Why you still got the 1600 you asked for! If it wasn't enough money later in the day IT WASN"T ENOUGH EARLER! -

AHH some commen sense!!
As far as shutting down on 4/1 I'll not start my truck, as a matter of fact I'm shutting down for the whole month! That will show em, course I'm on vacation then -
I've worked in a lot of different fields and trucking is NO different when it comes to "we need to strike" BOO-HOO. Some on this site really have no idea what it is like to be poor. I've been there and will never go back. I remember walking (couldn't afford a car) home at midnight and stealing a pallet or two to cut up to burn for heat the next day! When I did have some cash I would buy 5 gal. of heating oil to put in the furnace oil tank.
I do not live week to week pay check to check, you get nowhere real fast that way almost as fast as going on strike! PUT AS MUCH ENERGY INTO YOUR JOB AS YOU DO BLABING ABOUT SOME STUPID STRIKE AND YOU'LL JUST MIGHT GET SOME WHERE IN LIFEbrsims Thanks this.
