Hey, we have a 2017 peterbilt 567 dump truck with the allison automatic transmission and it vibrates only in 3rd gear. empty and fully loaded it does the same thing. Any ideas what could be causing this? thanks

4500 series? Not many of these in that chassis. If it truly is only in third gear, I would take it directly to Allison or a Williams dealer. Doubt its anything other than something in the trans itself. Does it go away in neutral at the same road speed as third?

Not exactly sure which series but it has a tag and it says 17b06 and T1DA. I called allison and they said most likely it is not the transmission because they said that the transmissions will never make a vibration? But i dont know if thats true or not. Also when it vibrates i press the nuetral button and when transmission goes is neutral, the vibration goes away.

I understand, but it's under warranty. Why try to rack your brain and pay out-of-pocket. Would you do the same thing if it was your personal car that was 2 years old?

    AModelCat Thanks this.

Its already out of warrenty :/ but either way we have a 2016 t880 and one time we had def problems and it sat at the dealer for a full week and it was just bad def fluid. They take forever to do anything.

I would definatley get it in to an Allison shop. If it only does it in 3rd gear how can it be anything but the trans. Any driveline, ride height or axle angle issue should be prominent in other gears as well. An inspection of the above would be the next possibility.

maybe a synchro on that gear, im betting its a transmission issue, ofc allison doesnt want to take responsibility.
