This is a combination of terrible broker [TQL] and terrible receiver, Almond Cold Storage in Abilene, Texas.

ACS took 7 hours to offload 20 odd bags of dry goods. As I'm getting my signed BOL from a white-haired, heavy set woman in the office, I kindly ask if she would mind writing the in/out time on the BOL. She replies "no" without batting an eyelash. I thought she was kidding and only noticed she wasn't when she proceeded to deal with another driver. When I incredulously asked again she replied "you're lucky you got offloaded in the time you did. Look, this driver has been here since 8am." It was 7pm at the time.

In the end, she refused to make the addendum on the BOL. The forklift operator, who was standing by helpless, ended up doing so. This was only after calmly stating that someone was going to have to write the information.

I found out that this receiver uses all temps except the 5 main people in the office. No doubt this atmosphere led the incredibly rude and obnoxious woman from the office to think that she can behave any way she likes towards drivers as well.

TQL says they won't pay detention. My company says they'll give me "something", which is code for "bother someone for weeks until they finally put maybe $20 extra in the check and act as if it's some huge favor..."
