You can google railroads shortline and Major class 1 carriers for your area. There are plenty of maps and so on that shows where they are.

A major Carrier like JBH relies on about 200 railheads around the USA, and there is like twice that number available.

You can just tell them in advance you need an automatic. It’s quite common.

Why Shaffer instead of Crete? Why go reefer over dry van for the same pay? Or is the pay that much different?

Great for raising blood pressure. :D

I picked up some plywood at one, or two, GP places pulling flatbed. You had to stand behind this big metal divider or in a breakroom while the truck was being loaded for safety. They didn't want you getting smashed or run over by the forklift while it was loading the trailer. Ok, that sounds reasonable.
When they were finished loading they would be loading the truck parked next to you. But it was ok to stand there and tarp the load while the forklift was loading the other truck. the assend of the forklift swinging 2-3' feet away from you while you were tarping. They wanted it tarped before you left. You could't go down the road a mile or two in case it rained on the product. Just crazy.

    aramil248 Thanks this.
