You applied to Werner for a job didn't you. Or did they come to you and ask you to work for them?

If it's 500 miles you must be going to the western Mo border.

Really?? I would have taken the load and spend the night in a hotel. Gotta be kiddin me to come to a public forum to whine about that?? Just be happy you have a job while millions of others don't. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, but I'm not inclined to feel much sympathy, either. The company operates around its needs, not yours. That'll include the occasional thing or two which you may not like. You have a job as a driver. Granted, I'd have requested a message on the Qualcomm assuring you of the hotel arrangements. Other than that, they had a job which needed to be done which, aside perhaps from distance, doesn't go outside your normal job requirements. And you failed to hold up your end. You think they're pulling your leg when they say you don't have a choice? Tell me again who owns the truck you're driving? Things like this have the potential to cost a company a contract. You think they're just going to laugh it off? Unless you have something in your employment paperwork specifically stating you'll only operate within a certain radius, you're subject to the whims of your company within limitations of safety and legal matters. So don't be surprised if you get reprimanded for this, and don't come crying here about it.

I would have jumped on it; money is money.

Several years ago a company did me that way, my sleeper in the shop. It was over 700 miles each way. A very important customer for the company. I slept in the truck and turned in phoney hotel receipts. Made a killing on that run.
