I was driving north US-287 at Boise City, OK. I saw a small electronic sign on the side alerting of weigh station at next exit. I was expecting a normal weigh station exit, so drove by the highway exit which looked like nothing. The weighstation is somewhere in this town. There was a weighmaster waiting just past the exit and started following me without lights. About 10 seconds later, I noticed a left turn down a small road going to town and turned. I am guessing he could not ticket me because technically I had not passed the station and was heading back to town. As I was driving on this road, I could see in the distance another truck had passed the exit, but he kept going and the weighmaster was pulling him over and writing him a 150.00 ticket. Since the webmaster was occupied I went back on the highway and passed them both. It's a bit sketchy the setup out there, that's why they've got weighmasters waiting for trucks on the highway and taking advantage.
Here is the picture of the sign from my dashcam. It says weigh station open, then changes to next exit.

Here's the other driver getting pulled over by weighmaster, assuming getting a ticket.

How do you know the tix is $150 ?
If everything is that sketchy, and you get cited, go back and record the route to show it's not properly signed.

To me “weigh Station open - next exit” is fairly straight forward. Yes, it’s not a conventional weigh station setup but you will see these setups here and there, especially in the western half of the USA.

Some states, especially in the northeast use portable signs to pull you into a rest area for an inspection and there's always a cop waiting for you to go by.

I got a steak dinner out of that scale house several years before I retired. I broke down going through there from Dallas to Denver. Managed to get in the scale house property. Back then they only operated the scales part-time. I could sit here and make an excuse but I won't, the clutch messed up. The company sent a guy bobtail and he got my load and took it on to Denver. Told me to get into a hotel because they would not be able to get a hook up there that evening. I left my fleet managers phone number on the driver's side glass and got in a room. That next morning my cell phone woke me up. It was the guy coming to get my truck telling me when he expected to get me. I decided to take a shower have some breakfast and walked back to my truck. When I got there I noticed 2 cars there. One of the officers walked over to the truck and I told him what was happening. The conversation was light and I made a joke about how my company pays for clean inspections. The guy asked me would he find a clean truck. I told him the best I knew the only thing that was wrong was the clutch. Long story short I got a clean inspection and my policy was always buy a steak dinner. The guy was very good to me, even offered a ride if I needed one.
