I have a routine I follow everytime. When you are done with an unload and about to leave, STOP! walkaround the truck like doing a pre-trip but just look for things you may have left out or not secured or forgot to close.

When you get loaded do the same thing but this time make sure to look at your straps and chains and make sure its enough and check them all for tightness as you may have forgot one. Also look for anything left out, not secured or forgot to close.

I am major OCD about this too as I have forgotten to tighten a strap before and caught it on the walkaround and same with forgot to close a door and have left stuff out too.

I do the same thing now. First week I kept forgetting stuff. I have a pretty good routine that I'm pretty OCD about. Routine is what makes this job easier.

Yep. This. It happens to all of us. Once you get your own swing per say, its all natural to you.

Yeah, I know what you mean, did that just last week. Put my winch bar on the cat walk from the off side, finished hanging my flags and drove off. Got to the job site, seen the empty spot in my boomer box, and #### it all, could not believe I had such a D. S. attack. But, a hammer does ride pretty good on the trailer deck, but I can spot that pretty quick in the mirror before it goes anywhere.

Need to go shop for a camper...:biggrin_25525:

Well, here is the second load I've gotten. First was shaped steel beams and i didn't think to take a picture of it. Still under this one right now.

Cant tell from the pic so- front machine has two chains on the front in x-pattern and the one in the back, rest have one chain on either end of each machine, and a strap across the arm-thingy on the excavator.

Course, this one it isnt hard to figure out how to secure it haha.

Someone ###### with one of my chains last night at the Pilot in Gary, IN. I checked em all this morning before i rolled out and one was loose and wrapped around the hollow rail mount instead of the stake pocket.

I've got four skid loaders on my trailer right now.

I really like hauling them. No tarp involved.

Not saying its this but large carriers arent liked much in the van world by the smaller companies and independents. Multiply that by 10 in the flatbed world.
