OK, Ive heard all the crap from Werner, JB Hunt, Covenant and last but definatly not least...SWIFT! My Question, for someone fresh out of CDL School...What is..truly, a very good company to start off with in general? Yes, home time is at the top of the list for me....I dont have a problem with being gone 6 weeks, but when I get home, I wanna catch my breath for a week. or Home every weekend. BTW, The closer to pensacola the better. Heck, anything in florida?

    Hi Chevelle,

May Trucking is in Pensacola and they are hiring. I spoke with them today thinking that a local company would give me more home time. WRONG! Jennifer at May says this division, reefer, averages three to four weeks on the road with three or four days home max at the end of each period. I do better than that with Wiley as they do a lot of paper runs from Cantonment and Mobile which allows me to get home two or three times during my normal three week run period that does not count against my official home time. My dispatcher normally arranges so I can pickup and take my 10 hours of rest at home before leaving again. Not perfect, but it does make the three weeks on the road a lot more bearable.

Everyone else local I have spoken with wants at least one year experience or two years.
