Happen to bump into one Altom driver today here in Houston at the plant. Thought of selling my tractor and going co. again so I'm...thumping the ground to see what's what......... anyway........I ask about Altom
Not a happy camper at all. Seems they decided to flood the company with drivers ( hiring everybody they can get ) and diluting the fleet so nobody makes nothing. He says what is left the company guys get.... ( good runs etc ) ( He's an O/O ) He continues most of the old co. dogs have left and so have most of the senior O/O's . He said they get a new hand, run him hard for 6 or 7 weeks and boom, all gone but scraps. ( I've seen this before )
op/ed: too bad if true, I've always admired their equipment although I was suspect as to how they paid for those nice Pete's at prevailing rates. Looks like I have my answer. It's unfortunate to see a premiere carrier install a revolving door at HR..... and I'll keep looking.
