hey, I don't #### about who is hiring out of lakeland, FLA but do know that at driving school one of my classmates had a misde and our computer literate instructor told him to check this web site out.I don't know if it's worth anything because I haven't checked it but for what it's worth something is always better than nothing: http://edrivingjobs.com/

Good luck and I am pulling for you.

It sounds like they are giving you excuses. I don't think it has anything to do with your misdemeanor.

You started out with a permit back in May. You got HD Express to go out of their way and train you. You quit.

Then you go to TransAm and quit too. All since May.

That's why you are having a hard time. It cost a company alot of money to hire and train someone. They expect at least 6 months out of you or you are a liability instead of an asset. I'd say you made both of them mad.

If you get lucky enough to get one more break, you better stick with it. It's gonna be hard anywhere you go your first year. Stop trying to go lease and go company until you get some experience and learn the ropes. You don't just jump into a business knowing nothing.

You seem to know a lot from not a lot of information. Here is a run down of what you think you know, from I gather posts and threads of mine. I'll start at the beginning.

When working for a local cab company back in April I picked up a trucker and his wife from a Mcdonalds that allowed over night parking. I transported them to a hotel across the street, since they had a ton of luggage. It was doing so I asked about getting into the trucking industry. He told me at that time to give him a call in a week and he will see what he can do. After calling him, he said that he wasn't looking for a driver, but his brother, which owned HD Express was. I talked to the owner of HD Express and we hit it off pretty well. They told me that they would train me OTR and then after a couple months would give me a truck. The day I was set out to start with them I met up with one of only 3 of their drivers, Jeff. The truck was a 1999 Freightliner and had seen way better days. It was horrible on the inside and out and smelled bad. I was reluctant to go, but sucked it up and went anyway. Thats when the adventure started. The 1st night going through Tennessee, my trainer fell asleep at the wheel and almost killed us. That turned out to be a non stop occurrence and happened almost daily. I was then made to drive at all different hours, with absolutely no experience, while he did sleep. Not to mention the truck had a severe steering problem, where you would turn the wheel but nothing would happen, then all of a sudden it would jerk.

Needless to say that was only 25% of the issues. Another issue we I had was while in KC, a hooker approached the truck in what seemed the middle of a hurricane. Actually it was a tornado and the rain and wind was horrible. He let her in the truck and she proceeded to give him a BJ while I was up front. Later on that night while I was asleep I awoke to a strange sound. The sound of someone sucking on something and crackling noise. I peeked down off the top bunk into the cab and noticed what appeared to be a 60 yo lady and Jeff smoking crack, or whatever it was. Also, to my surprise there was a syringe laying on her left leg. I didnt say anything till the next morning. I told him that I do not appreciate to be put into that kind of danger, and that it better never happen again.

Well on the way out of KC a few days later after we dropped everything, we pulled back into the same spot, and lord and behold another lot lizard approached. This time Jeff was smart and left with her about 5pm in the afternoon. Well after waiting on him and calling him non stop I finally went to bed around 2am. The next day I awoke at 10am to surprise, no Jeff. I again tried to call, but no answer. I called my boss and he said keep trying him. It was at that point I realized how big of drug problem this guys had. The owner of HD Express had got me to kinda babysit him. His thoughts were that, if I were in the truck with him, Jeff would be more inclined not to do drugs. He was wrong. Jeff didnt show up till 36 hours later, nor was that the last time he did something like that. Also, for 2 months almost, I was never paid. The company HD Express is no longer in business and I believe the owner is in jail or something. That was never on no DAC report. When tried to get paid by them, they said they had no clue who I was.

The Trans Am thing is common sense. If you read my other post then you would know exactly why I wasn't going to sign a lease with them. Now you have all the info. Thank you.

Take it how you want. All I'm trying to do is tell you why nobody wants to hire you. Let some of the other experienced drivers read this thread and your other one and they'll tell you the same thing.

The companies don't listen to your reasons for quitting. They listen to your past employers and what they have to say. You went to TransAm and failed to complete your obligation. Did you even pay them for training?

Again, they have no way to even know I somewhat worked for HD Express. Also I didn't quit really, I was just never picked back up. Come to find out I was only used so the company could just use me basically as a team driver for a little while. That company was a joke and isnt even around no more. So it is what it is.

The thing with Trans Am is once your done with your OTR training and before you sign a lease, they make you sign a formal letter of resignation. I signed that letter, but didn't sign a lease. It shows on my dac that I worked for them, for just over a month, and yes I am rehireable.

If you will basically solicit a stranger in the back of your cab and take a job where you didn't get paid why are you so reluctant to try one of the less reputable bottom feeders? Yes you will still get bent over probably, but it will feel like they are using lube compared to the last company. Also, they will at least put you in a truck made within the last decade and pay you.

Get your foot in the door if this is really what you want to do. The Trans Am for a month thing might hurt you a little bit. They do have company drivers have you considered going back to them if you are eligible for rehire? Sometimes you just have to wait for a truck, but you don't have to lease.

Just Squire and May so far. I'll know what May has to say tomorrow. I'm going to call everyone under the son in the next couple of days to try to get something lined up.
