You can hire an attorney and have that dropped felony charge expunged. It should cost less than $1,000. Of course, that is saying the misdemeanor you stated you have isn't the felony knocked down to a misdemeanor.

I was recently denied a position (non-trucking) based on a Hire Right report. My background is clean, but there was a person listed that had the same first and last name as me but different middle name and birthday. This person has an open case from 2008 for felony receiving stolen property. I had to contact Hire Right and then have every county I have ever lived in fax a copy of my background check for them to acknowledge that I was not that person.

I would continue to fight this even if you get a company to hire you. Good luck!

Isn't it amazing what hoops they make US jump through, when THEY make a mistake?

I spent the better part of 2 weeks visiting area Sheriff Departments (multiple) getting paperwork signed for a security SNAFU.

All because "somebody" in charge said, "Don't worry about THAT ticket. It won't matter."

Now if the SOB's were forced to PAY us $$$ for their mistake. You can bet it would be right the first time.

Anyone have any leads on any other companies hiring out of Florida right now. Also, is there a way where I can say I live somewhere else other then Florida to get on somewhere. Companies that have said no today

FFE: Couldn't of been on probation within 5 years
Prime: No misdemeanor younger then 5 years
Wil-Trans: Have to have 2 years experience
    WSE: Same as Prime
    Covenant: Same as Prime

I'm running out of options here and don't know what to do. Oh May trucking, I would have to go back to school again, they don't take refreshers so I would have to take the whole course again.

anything you type "can and will be used against you" in the court of public opinion, every time! :biggrin_25525:

CC really didn't twist your story, he just summarized it so masterfully that it might have have stung your ego abit, that's all. Don't be mad at him, you gave him the information. I must admit, your story is quite the sorted affair!! :biggrin_2559:

    Good luck going forward :biggrin_25517:

Well, since the peanut gallery has given their opinions, let me give a real opinion.

    1. You need to contact the court that you were charged in, you'll probably have to schedule an appt. with a judge or the DA and explain the situation to them. See if they can give you a letter explaining everything. IF you went through probation, they can definetly provide you with a letter.

    2. These companies that are refusing you because of a "deep probe". First off, unless your applying for security clearance, they aren't doing a deep proble. Something in your general background still isn't right. Hireright may not have corrected things.

    3. Unless these companies can show proof of where the misdemeanor or even the felony will disqualify you, and they need to show a serious reason, contact EEOC. An employer cannot simply refuse to hire you for that reason unless they can show justifiable cause; ie a kid toucher being given a job that give easy access to kids.

I would suggest trying a mom/pop company, they are generally more leniant and willing to give someone second chance.
