I have a 1998 peterbilt and it came with a panosonic am/fm radio. The radio still works fine but I have a sirius/xm radio and am trying to use the fm transmittor to play it from my panosonic and it just doesnt work while traveling. I constantly have to seach for a station that it will work on. I would like to replace the panosonic with a radio that has an aux port then I can hook the xm directly to the fm ( xm has an aux port ) and it should eliminate my problem. What radio can i get that will plug into my wiring harness without having to splice wires? Will a newer panosonic work?

    Thanks

if it has an aux switch go ahead and get a decent antenna, you will be forever finding a new fm station unless you are just sitting still and that is tough also.

Ah, there is an adapter that comes in the form of a cassette player ... No such creature for CD.

CD Player but no Aux In??? Strange.

You can buy the kit at any f/liner dealer to install a newer radio without having to cut any wires, or unplug ant. and put xm ant. wire near back of radio?

You still using the AM/FM part?
If not just unplug the Antenna from the back of the Radio.

Or get a New Radio with Aux Input..really your best bet for Quality.
Guess a little more $ than other options.

    edit nm.
Most decent radios have Aux ports now.

I've never had a problem using the fm receiver. Other then some local over riding for a few miles.

I used the satellite radio itself to broadcast to the in dash radio though. And not the fm transmitter plug. Never had one of them transmitter plugs.

Only time I had a problem was LA area.
I remember one time I just gave up.

Another thing is the FCC stepped in, like in 06 or 07 made pretty tough new rules and transmitters are weaker on newer models after that.

Something like this will hook into the antenna connection on the back of any radio and will be picked up on a set freq and will not have interference from radio stations. I used one in and older truck before that didn't have an aux port.
