Basically I don't have work history for the last I'd say 12 years. I've worked for myself since about 1999'ish. I think my last job that I can remember was probably working on the docks for a large retail store when I was much younger.
After that I got into doing things online, took a few years and self taught myself various skills like programming and related things but never really made a lot doing it most of the time to even need to file taxes. Just filed one last year to start again.. I had a place to stay (no rent or mortgage) no kids, no big bills to speak of so I was fine with it... maybe a little too fine with it.....

anyway, I have a perfectly clean driving record.. no criminal history.. High school diploma... I am just wondering if the fact that I won't be able to show any real employment history will screw me completely ? or is it just finding the right place that doesn't really care about it much if I would have a CDL, HS diploma, clean everything else.......

I asked the same thing from a recruiter, and I am waiting to see what he replies.....

Most companies require a somewhat stable job history but call some of these instruction companies and see what they say.

These companies might hire you after completion of a CDL school. All you can do is go to school & apply. Submit applications after you are enrolled and attending classes in school.

    Western Express
    Paschall Truck Lines
    Buel Inc

Just claim self-employment, but be advised most companies will want to verify this, usually with tax returns. In our society, normal people work, get pay stubs/w2's etc. So, the people that fall under a different scenario might have problems. However, consider a housewife that wants to get into trucking, she doesn't have a work record either. If it appears on paper that you have been lying around your house for 10 years watching soap operas, you could be screwed.
