So I came to this company for heavy haul. Never done 1099 before. But this company is making me pay for things out of pocket then therefore to be reimbursed. Also I was over weight by a hair coming through scales and they are charging me for a crane to come move my load back. I am being charged escrow, liability, tools, fedex for trip packs, eld. Etc. i have been nothing but going broke as a company driver. Thoughts? Is this legal?

    FloridaDudester Thanks this.

Wait until you learn what Dear Uncle Sam wants out of your Pocket for taxes, along with the necessary State withholding, Medical withholding, social security and so on.

What you are talking about is not out of line. You are involved with the big boys now.

The problem is so many go broke and break really badly. FAST.

Trucking runs on money, Blessed American Dollars MWAH thank you honey, You have the money. They have the time. /slight teasing.

What does it say in your employment contract?

Truthfully you are probably an employee not eligible as a 1099 contractor.

RustyBolt, FloridaDudester and Tb0n3 Thank this.

No you don't seem to get the question, you are not a company driver, you are a contractor you are supposed to have a contract.

If you don't have a contract, then quit because you are being employed illegally.

All of those 1099 companies in Illinois are a scam... I'd cut your losses and tell them to come pick the truck up, they are ripping you off.
