Alright, the question is, am I out of luck?
The short back story is I started driving in the fall of 2007. At the end of March 2009 I came home for the weekend for my 28th birthday, smoked some pot and a couple days later I was picked for a random drug test. I fessed up, told them they didnt need to waste money on the test and cleaned out my truck. Needless to say, it was a pretty bad day for me.
Well, here I am a year later, hoping to get back into it. I just reapplied to my old company. I reapplied 6months after and was denied, I'm expecting the same results this time too. So now I'm wondering, is there ANY company that will hire me? Other than the one huge black stain on my record, I have perfect driving record(in my 4wheeler and 1.5 years in a truck)
Any advice?

have fun, but i think it will be at least 3 years to get off the record. but then you will be out of trucking for 3 years and then you will be considered a newbie all over again. some will not hire you cuz of the break in trucking.....best of luck...not fun and you do need to be crispy clean in driving truck.

Nothing personal, but I hope nobody hires you to drive a truck !!!

i think its a shame a man can lose his job for smoking a little pot in the privacy of his own home not on company time or property or anything
im all for legalization of pot but until that day comes you wont catch me near the stuff again...not worth my jobold-six-pack Thanks this. -
Ok, private rant here.....
Why the HECK is it that some folks, knowing that something is illegal and stupid, will go right on ahead with it and then pee and moan when their idiot behavior bites them. You expect sympathy??? Well Fark You!!!
You want to be stoned or drunk or whatever??? Fine, go do your drug and kill yourself out somewhere where you can't hurt someone else. Stay the Hell away from my industry. Unlike your sorry stupid butt I and thousands of others are professionals who take our job and responsibility serious. You jackoffs are worse than the most inept newbies. The faster and more permanently we can get you out of the industry the better.
"Holier than thou"??? You #### betcha I am.joseph1135, Sgt York and usfman Thank this. -
Methinks Kittyfoot was pussyfootin' around the subject ... mincing his words ... not saying what he really meant ... come on Kittyfoot ... let's stop with the ulterior motives ... the hidden meanings ... the political games ... the verbal superficality ... have some honesty and real integrity ... tell the boy what you REALLY mean!

Went to school with a guy who passed the initial pre-employment drug test. Then he went home for the weekend. When he came back, there had been a problem and the company he had been hired on with didn't need him anymore. He had to take another pre-employment drug test for another carrier that worked with the school, and guess what...he flunked and was sent home.
A positive drug test will end your career. Refusing to take a test can be worse than failing one.
Knowing that, if a person wants to be a truck driver, they need to go out of their way to avoid anything that will cause a positive test. For me, I had to give up those lemon muffins with the poppy seeds in 'em....but ANYTHING with poppy seeds will show up. While I may enjoy those tasty treats, they aren't worth my job...I haven't had one in over 10 years. -
You mean that i can't have a "root beer float" or beer barrell candy.

i am glad he lost his chance to drive'who knows if this driver that seems to be short on brains if he has any left would not light one up on the road.
