Fruit sugar is still carbs and affects your BS. It may not raise it as fast as a candy bar, but it does raise it.
Just ask any type 1 diabetic. That is why they carb count. 1 carb is still 1 carb.

Then I guess we can agree to disagree. My Endocrinologist and gastroenterologist are the ones who told me to carb count and eat my protein first.
Protein can decrease your appetite by affecting your hunger hormones. It can also help you feel full for longer, which can help you eat less and lose body fat.May 25, 2016

I mostly drink water today. If I know I am going to be eating out I take a few extra units of Novolog! My average A1C is in the 6 range. I'm happy!

i don’t disagree with what you say, but there’s a few more things people need to understand. We need protein first, that is absolutely true. There are essential proteins we need for our bodies to function. There are essential fats. There is no such thing as an essential carb.
That said, if you eat more protein than your body needs for it’s essential functions, it gets burned for energy. Converting protein to energy is not only economically wasteful, it comes with some digestive penalties as well. One, it actually does increase blood sugar. Two, it puts a pretty heavy burden on the kidneys, with potential long term negative consequences.
Fats, when used for energy, do not go through the Krebs cycle and do NOT effect the blood sugar level.
The “Standard American Diet”, which ironically spells “SAD”, is very much deficient in certain fatty acids. There’s much scientific evidence that improving fat consumption can have very significant physical AND emotional health benefits. We have all heard about omega3 fatty acids from fish and their heart and vascular benefits. There are other benefits as well. For example, a fairly recent study showed that taking fish oil daily improved mood as much as Prozac for people on the SAD diet.
But the bottom line still is: carbs are the devil.Another Canadian driver, bentstrider83 and Jenn72 Thank this. -
I went to a clinic and had no problems. I wasted $90 going to a chiro at that Pilot in LaVergne. What a quack he was. I am 6'2 and right at 300.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

One of my friends is Type 1 Diabetic and drove trucks all his career and retired with a fat pension.
How did he do that?
He never told anyone that he's Type 1 Diabetic.
He carried his insulin and needles in a small insulated lunch box and when anyone asked about the lunch box, he said, "just some snacks to much on while I'm driving."Another Canadian driver, Eldiablo and Jenn72 Thank this.
