That wouldn't fly now, at least not at the clinic I use. They take urine samples to check for sugar.
Am I too fat for Physical?,

I am a diabetic, as long as I keep my diabetes under control I have no spill over into my urine. With so many people that are classified as pre-diabetic, I have for years now advised ALL drivers to fast (NOTHING, NOT EVEN COFFEE) for 12 hours before a physical. Do the finger stick test, if your sugar is over 180 DO NOT take a physical.
Chieftains, Another Canadian driver, Eldiablo and 1 other person Thank this. -
I set my alarm to go off at 75, for I know to eat a piece of candy for I won't go hypo. As long as I keep my BS in check I don't have any spillage in my urine. My A1C usually runs in high 5 low 6.
If you didn't see my pump you wouldn't know I had diabetes.
BTW at my last DOT Physical the Dr even remarked that if a Diabetic BS was normal and had no spillage, in the past would of easily passed the physical without them knowing they were diabetic. The only reason they know now is because of the prescription check.Last edited: Dec 19, 2020

When I was in the honeymoon phase my BS would go from 400 down to 30 within an hour. I'd give myself the right amount of insulin but then my pancreas would decide to spurt out some too and down I would go. The honeymoon phase was horrible for me. The nausea, feeling I couldn't breathe, sleepiness and confusion.
My husband who teams with me has the alert sent to his phone to go off at 80. I also have a diabetic alert dog that will bark, lick my face to wake meAnother Canadian driver and Eldiablo Thank this. -
