Gee, I wonder who has the contract for that? All those trucks heading for the LA docks?
But seriously if you think you can handle climbing up & down into a tractor 6-10 times a day, cranking trailer gear up and down, and the size of the truck doesn't intimidate you. You'll do fine.
I might add a cautionary note because your a woman, but if you've already got a buddy lined up to run teams with you that would negate any concerns I might voice about your safety.
Good luck and welcome aboard.
Am I too old to be hired as a trucker?

No you are never to old to drive a Truck.
-
Are you too old? No. Your size, sex, age are largely insignificant, no matter which size, sex, and age you may be. The physical work isn't very much, it just seems that way sometimes because some work may be required after sitting on your rear for so many hours, or because after years of driving you become seriously out of shape.
There are plenty of working drivers much older, smaller, larger, dumber, and smarter than all of us. It's a non-issue. Safety in the business is not related to any of those items. You just need to be wary of people and situations so you don't walk into something that's developing like a rural tourist in NYC walking into an argument or drug deal. The only rare safety issues I've ever had were from non-truckers "coming to see my truck" while I was sleeping or trying to fix something while parked at a rest area. -
I tell people all the time, if you can pass the DOT physical and dont have DUIs, Felony's ect ect Someone will always hire you to drive a truck until they plant you, out in the stone garden.
By all means, join us, there is no such thing as being to old.
