most drivers will say Study the atlas, best advice anyone can give. a GPS is nice but you need to know more about the area you are going too.
Dont get nervous out there and have fun.
Am I too worried?

Youll be fine I have a friend who drives for prime and he says hos Qualcomm has GPS in it bit its not always rite youll be fine just do your trip planning once u get to know the roads and weathr youll be fine and just some advice dont do the lease purchases they make it sound good but in the long run you wnt make any more than a company driver

Don't even think about leasing until you've run the company side for a few years, and then think about it. You can make more at leasing, but you have to be good at your craft (driving a big truck) first. -
some very good advice here. alot of people now, don't have the "big picture" in their head. take the city you live in. can you see it in your mind in relation to where you are and the rest of the city? see the major roads? GPS is a tool that becomes a crutch, I don't have one , never did, probably won't. pay phone and now cell phone ,pad of paper and a professional attitude on the phone, have always worked.
yes. I have had the "what, no GPS" ??? and called dispatch or the broker and said if you want it delivered get me directions. simple.
I buy the cheaper motor carriers atlas , not the laminated one.the type is too small for this old fart ,lol . if you buy at the end of the year it's about $10.
I still will sit and look thru the atlas, out of curiosity. keeps the picture fresh in my empty head.
good luck and be careful !!!!!
