Keep a list of the ones you've already applied with and the ones you plan to apply with.

Above--Chinatown said to stay away from weed, or pot.

That's great advice.....especially if you aspire to any sort of career in the CDL world. :thumbright:

And on that same subject--while you're getting past Feb, 2023 (and beyond)--also avoid CBD oils, or "gummies".

Even if labelled, "THC-free"...they can still have trace amounts of this stuff.

That's (also) what can later give you a positive test for pot use, when you later test for drugs with a potential CDL carrier.

For similar reasons, I also avoid poppy seeds.

There are too many other ways to dress up a salad. :D

Seems like a long time to be suspended/revoked for a first DUI offense..

Another example of a greedy CDL school taking advantage of someone who they know darn well has almost no chance of getting a job..

Yea, no one told me, as far as it seemed, "hey, you can get your CDL now" was even told to me by the DMV. They had me thinking well if i could get the CDL then I'm hireable. I'm not mad tho, I still went thru the process and got it so there's that. Thankfully if its only the suspension, my year will be up here in less than 2 months, I can hang tough till then, specially if it opens the doors to a better company but I'd crawl thru the trenches just to get enough experience to go where I wanted in this industry.

Thanks for the info, the drug and booze thing way over for me so I am not to worried about that, just breaking into this industry is the challenge with this problem. Oh, I also tried R&R transportation, recruiter told me they don't hire new, only one year experienced drivers. but thank you Chinatown for link.

R&R does hire new grads, but on a case by case basis.

OP's DUI isn't the problem unless an insurance underwriter sees the length of the suspension as it appears rather long.

Most insurance companies won't touch a DUI under 5 years old and I only saw one insurance company that wanted ten years after a DUI.

There is always a company that will take a new CDL and Chinatown goes over and above finding places.

Always look to apply online as the recruiter is doing their best to fill the seats management has empty though they will promise more than they can actually deliver.

You're fully hirable. Simply go to Craigslist for your area, open up transport jobs and start applying. You will get hired by the underbelly of trucking but you only have to survive for about a year and then you can move to a better company. It's the hard way but sometimes it's what you have to do.
