I'm not sure on that. All I know is everytime I pickup up load, I get no signal. I have to leave the property before I can get service again.

    Aren't cell phone jammers illegal?

Yeah you missed out on nothing count yourself lucky. On live unloads you can get screwed really bad. Now with power only on the other hand I never really worry about any delivery appt. Most of that they expect it to run straight thru. I will not book anything that I can't get to the pickup appointment on time for though because they will cancel if you are late most times. Sometimes not but you better be sure of it before rolling out. There's just too much that can go wrong and too much BS. Used to do a lot of them but not anymore.

Im literally a O/O for 4 days in my lfie time. Amazon did not exist then. IF they only allow three trucks or more, then go buy three trucks and put drivers into them.

I only work on information Im told. If I knew that Amazon only runs three trucks or more, my first post will be completely different. If I don't know nothing then whatever I put out is garbage.

Which is why it's difficult to work with Posters in interesting topics because there is never enough information until page two of a given thread when there rest of the story comes out.

Amazon Chester to Baltimore was paying almost 6 a mile last year to outside carriers. When they need 6 trucks they order 10. Booked two of these loads and both times was cancelled at the gate. They have to be the most inefficient poorly run logistics company I have ever encountered. It always amazes me how the home delivery service works so well after seeing first hand what a clown show the fullfillment centers are.

@x1Heavy Amazon was in existence when you were driving. They've been around since 1994. In the early days they had one DC for the western US and one for the eastern US.

I don't remember where the western DC was but the eastern one was in Campbellsville, KY. I remember running holiday runs as a company driver during Christmas season of 2003 from Campbellsville, KY Amazon to the Horsham, PA United Parcel Service hub.

It was drop and hook. Our company had empties dropped in Horsham and Campbellsville. Hauled light, easy loads 700 miles to PA and pulled empties back 700 miles to KY. At the time I thought it was crazy and didn't realize Amazon paid the same empty as loaded.

I was making bank running paper logs and doing 700 miles a day 7 days a week. I did it for 2 weeks straight took a weekend off and did another 2 weeks straight.

Back in those days taking liberty with logs was no big deal. If a fuel stop matched the same day that was good. The only thing that got iffy was 70 hours in 8 days (or whatever that particular rule is 80 hours in 8 days???? - never come close to burning that many hours in 8 days anymore CRAZINESS but I was young)

That was the best money I ever made as a company driver. It was also lessons for the distant future 10 years later as an o/o. That little nugget is one of the many reasons I tell guys there is no substitute for experience before owner operating. Learn the industry in someone else's truck before you buy one.

Active cell jammers are yes. If they block signal it's likely they do it passively. Could even be unintentional. Stuff like sheet metal on the walls are common in warehouses, and that alone does a good job blocking signal. They could also do stuff like use a signal blocking paint, or even put up a full Faraday cage around the building.
If it's happening outside the building, something is fishy. Could just be a dead area at that one location for that provider.

Until June 2016 that I was involved. August 2016 until we pulled out entirely. Same shenanigans with the Columbus Office Mgr.

As a matter of fact I STILL get calls and emails asking us to cover loads. I have to tell them every time we no longer work with them and to remove my cell 'drop dead' number from their dang list for the 1000th time.

Clown car. You guys thought I was kidding? lol.

That's only 170 miles though so $1,000 a load. It's good for dry van work but I remember not so long ago when they were paying thru brokers $6-$7 a mile on 500 mile or longer trips. THAT was great money. No-one was posting them or emailing lists at rates like that though. If you didn't ask for it you got about half that. This holiday season you got laughed at if you asked for more than posted. The only good thing about all the trucks swarming amazon and driving those rates down is that it left everyone else in a lurch looking for trucks...
