They don't bill you for a month, you can cancel. I have amazon, netflix and hulu and so far Amazon is king to me anyway.

you need a credit card to sign up. and if you forget to cancel. like i'm sure a lot of us have a tendency of fogetting things being out on the road. guess what, you now got a $99 charge you didn't want.

AND not all of us have all the time in 30 days to try a free trial.

$99 is not bad when you compare it to netflix or Hulu. Tha'ts only a little over $8 a month and you get free shipping. I think I will drop Hulu and give amazon a try. I have 64G on my Iphone6. Think I will get an apple TV and mirror my phone in the truck to the larger screen.

    Night Prowler Thanks this.

It's not a bad price..it's the lump sum. On a yearly basis.

How many remember to make sure that lump sum is available on exact date next year?

Using an iPhone to Apple TV was the exact setup I am planning on setting up in the truck too.

Tell me, do you need the Apple Router to get them to talk to each other or is there a more direct link? I know you can get a physical wired connection from Lighting to HDMI and connect it directly to the TV but I prefer the wireless options if possible in the mobile setting.

Was planning on setting up a rolling mobile wireless router but always looking for additional options.

Also, about Prime, you get much more than free two day shipping and tv shows... There is free music and free loaner books to read, etc.

So there seems to be many different things available... Something for everyone.

I don't actually have an apple TV yet and haven't played with one. I got my son one for Christmas several years ago and he can play anything on his phone on the TV. It could be using my homes wifi signal to do it.

You need a network to make it happen. Unless times have changed.

I started with a roku. It has a media channel which requires the same company software installed on a computer. Using my phone hotspot for the wireless network. I was able to stream my downloaded movies from laptop. Through the roku to tv..I could browse through the laptop library and pause and rewind and fast forward. All using the roku media channel.

Yes, more than likely it is using your home network to talk to each other. Rumors had said a direct connection may be possible but I don't think that has become reality yet.

So you may want to consider an Apple Router too in order to complete the circle... Low end one can be a refurbished one from their website for $65. I use one in my house and it works perfectly.

I considered trying that too. Using my Verizon phone as a hotspot to let the two devices talk to each other but wasn't sure if I would somehow chew up cellular data or not.

Do you see an increase in your cellular usage when using your hotspot in such a way?

I figured for $65 it would be totally separated and reduce my risk of an unforeseen data bill shocker at some point.
