I have crossed this bridge from Windsor,Ontario and both times CBP officers said the license plate on the transponder does not match my truck's and they made me go inside and pay $13.05
They also said that their ACE has the incorrecr license plate number and I am putting it in which I am not. I believe this plate number is of the previous owner.
Did anyone here experienced this and how can I resolve it. The officer was pretty .ad this time.
Also, thats the only fee I have paid while crossing...Is there anything else that I have been missing?
Thank yoi

Is the transponder from your account?

I had a similar problem when I bought a truck. My carrier gave me a temp plate to use until the permanent one showed up. And when I switched plates, I had problems with customs. Customs explained to me that people and vehicles have separate files and that my tractor file would have to be deleted and a new one created. Our ACE provider had to 'go into the system and delete my tractor file' and create a new one. I had to lean on my ACE provider bc she blamed customs and customs blamed her. Once she replaced the file I never had another problem.
Customs has their own transponder and the ambassador bridge has their own transponder. The ambassador bridge is only electronic tolling anymore. Fyi, go slow over the scale or you can be tolled full weight even when you are empty. Also the toll rates are different crossing into and out of Canada. -

Can't help with a transponder. I've never had one.
But If the transponder isn't yours then I'd get rid of the thing.
I use a permit guy for my E-manifest.
@rank is the one to ask, I believe he does his own. -
On the US customs Transponder issue, it sounds like the transponder is tagged to the previous owners plates. Not sure you can transfer the transponder but you can try. Google "DTOPS transponder" and the phone number should be on the website.
For the ACE issue, yes it sounds like the previous owner had that VIN in the ACE database and the people that are doing your ACE are using the old info (old plates). You can try contacting the previous owner and maybe they will delete it. We had the same issue with one of our trucks. There is a way around it but I have to remember how I did it. Maybe by doing a one time entry for the truck.Last edited: Jul 15, 2017

I contacted someone and they told me to make a profile on DTOPS and tranfer the transponder. I will do that once I get home because I am stuck with another issue.
So near our delivery in IL. Trailer leveling valve bolt broke which pumped up the bags causing the tip end of the trailer to hit a bridge. This caused most of the frame to come off. Now, we are at a shop getting it fixed. One side is in but the other side isnt going in because top frame is bent. There are straps holding the other end in place.
Now, I would like to take a load back to cover some of the costs. Should I? -
I can't help with that. I'm a flat bedder and a grain hauler. But here is the DTOPS URL and the phone number.
