Haha. Reminds me of last week rolling down I40 in NM.
I see a cop pulling over a truck that has had its trailer bumper and doors caved in literally 6 feet, basically up to the tandems, one tail light dangling off of 2ft. of wire, a real mess.
Crazy thing is, there were no other damaged vehicles around.
So, I'm left to ponder whether this driver didn't notice that he'd been massively rear-ended or whether, perhaps, he had done the damage himself (30mph backing accidents happen, right?) and was trying to get home.
About 20mi ahead, I saw the other vehicle, a semi with its front end crushed to the cab, being chained to a wrecker.
Mystery solved. Guy was clearly not at fault, was rear-ended but chose to flee the scene with a totalled trailer because...

you could be held liable for the damages if you lease it.
play it safe, report the driver and while you're at it, get a police report.
your husband can deny he told the driver to leave and forget about it.
this driver apparently does not know how to negotiate a parking lot.Muddydog79 and kathite Thank this. -

It amazes me how many are saying don't report him.
By not reporting him you are denying him the opportunity to learn from his mistake and instead are giving him the opportunity to rip my hood off.alds, buddyd157 and Muddydog79 Thank this. -

If you have the room to do it, might want to look at having one of those yellow guarder polls put in. I see a lot of walls banged up that have trucks frequently pulling in and out. My guess is it will happen again and again.
