Rocks Thanks this.

Yes. He sure did. And we, the drivers and all in this industry and the public in general who has some knowledge about these issues need to contact their reps and demand that they fix this. I was out of trucking for 3 years, from 2019 till 2022 and when I came back.... what a change!!! It's disgusting what is going on. If we don't start doing something, very soon in the future there will be only mega carriers and 1099 express companies pulling cheap freight and running illegal with ill trained drivers that can't even read a road sign... and that is the complete destruction of trucking.
hotrod1653, FullMetalJacket, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this. -
Oh yeah... and after that, the semi-autonomous, driverless trucks will come into play and there will not be much need for a skilled, well trained, English speaking driver any more... and the megas will pay peanuts to them....
'88K100 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I always liked reading your posts, I thought you had left the forum for good since I don't ever see your posts on here anymore. Good to see you back! -
I’ve been seeing the results of this phenomenon for some time now, and I couldn’t put a finger on it. Thanks for this info, it was very enlightening, and I will most definitely share this with my fellow colleagues.

Every other group in logistics organizes and forms cartels or trade associations etc.
The bottom rung will always be drivers until that giant group of independents can find a way to get together long enough to push for reform. On anything...
For example, I can understand an argument for cpm decades ago where some jerkoff driver would blow his time on brothels, dice games, and knife fights in the alley and a good corporate angel couldn't run a tight ship to service the paper mill his mistress is a secretary for because said driver is hourly. Hence paid for production.
Now with cell phones there's no reason most company jobs in trucking shouldn't be hourly. Couple that with enforcing employee designations so fake 1099 arrangements won't be abused.
(You know how many Einstein American truckers can't do simple math and end up driving for free for a month and a half all because the shady 1099 co with hot logs says they will be rich if they run 6k miles a week pulling 10k in revenue on a shady accountants wet dream of deductions putting op costs at 1.40/m before pay)
There's a million different issues to coagulate around but the truth is simple: Those smart enough or crafty or shady or whatever find a way to carve out their little spot in the trucking space and are insulated or happy or whatever with the idiots acting as a cushion between them and sharper competition.
