i think he is complementing your writing skills.
btw my favorite truck iv ever drove was a 06 379 -
Man I have pretty much been in lower end trucks my whole career, well until I got into a cascadia a few years ago. Nicest thing I have been in long term. I know guys knock the freightliner but I always said they nailed it with the Cascadia. If it wasn't for the emissions, i would be holding out for one I like.
That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing how I like the Pete long term. -
it did come off a bit weird, i had to read it twice and i guess im still not %100 that it was a complement...lol but i think it was.
here is the 06 i used to drive (for some reason i never got a picture with the outside of the truck clean....lol)
it was a 06 379 565isx 18 speed with 3.73 rears fleet was all cats except for this one and then when they started getting 389's they came with isx's obviously but the only 379 they had with the isx and i don't know if that truck was a fluke or what but it pulled like a freight train it would walk about every truck on the road at twice the other trucks weight. i liked the dash layout of the 06 better than the older trucks. i think the rocker switches are a cleaner look and its easyer to clean the dash than with toggle switches i think the gauge clusters just look cleaner as well. i drove it for several years and took really good care of it so they decided to reward me with a bran new 389 not too long before i left to be a o/o
i was excited at first till about the end of the first week, i felt the biuld quality of the new trucks was really lacking things rattled and squeaked in the interior the materials felt sub par, i was really unhappy. it was in the shop numerous times for emissions issues.
when i was going to buy a truck i begged them to sell me that red 379. they didn't want to sell it. anyway too long of a story already but they ended up going belly up after being bought out a couple years after i left and there whole fleet went to auction. wrong time for me and it sold for too much money anyway, but if i could have any truck iv ever driven back it would be that 06 379. -
I felt the same way about the 2015 Cascadia we had. It got good mileage, had no issues with scaling and weight distribution, and fit into pretty tight spots. But it just rattled and shook over all but the smoothest roads. You couldn't do anything on the pullout drawer/table while moving, and I had a really hard time sleeping in that thing unless it was stopped.
With our 2012 Volvo 780, it's pretty much the opposite. There are a few spots that vibrate, but it's because we just haven't secured them since we started customizing the interior. The steers are pretty much always 12000+ with the 5th wheel all the way back. The workbench for me makes a huge difference. If I didn't get this truck, I probably would've bought an older Western Star. -
Quick update.
Well I picked up the truck Saturday. Ran like a champ. Had it scanned down the road from where we picked up and everything looked legit. Only thing concerning is it ran pretty cool on the way home. Didn't get it up to 170 until I got to the state line(ga). Ran around 150 until we got down into tn. Not using any fluids. Coolant was completely full when we left and the still full the day after. Not burning any oil.(put right at 1000 miles) A buddy told me that considering we were not under load it would have stayed cooler. I expected that but thought it should at least get into the 170's. It was 29 outside when we picked the truck up. I am throwing in a set of thermostats to be on the safe side. Really liking the C15. I know it wasn't under load, but the thing feels like it pulls like a champ. Transmission is smooth as butter. I picked up the 13 speed really quick. It is awesome for hills, when you need that little in between. Driven 10 speeds most of my carrer, and I was missed less shifts on this 13 than I do the companies 2015 Cascadia, that I have been having to jump into on a regular basis lately.
Getting 4 drive tires next week. (I knew that before I left to get it). The rest of the tires are practically brand new. Very clean truck. A little more surface rust than I was expecting. The weird thing is it is only on the very rear of the frame and pumpkins. The rest of the frame and the truck itself almost no signs of rust at all. Putting it on stands this weekend and cleaning all that up at my father in laws shop.
Got my physical damage and non trucking paid up for the year. Searched around and I ended up getting million dollar coverage for $2400 for the year, but it had to paid up for the year. Part of a special program my agent got me into due to my years driving and record. Not sure if it is a great deal, but everybody else was quoting 4500 on this truck.
Things are coming together pretty quickly. Haven't set a date yet. Was debating on to ride it out here and try to get my annual bonus or call it quits and see if my plan works. After getting back behind the wheel for an extended period, I am leaning towards getting on the road. I always forget how much I enjoy that part of trucking.
Hope you guys enjoy the updates. I will try to keep them coming. I got a little bit of video coverage. Thinking about do a video blog with my new go pro. I will let you know if I decide to do it. I won't post the link until after I am gone from my current gig tho.
