Anheuser-Busch account in fl.

They do have the account. They took it over from us. There's not much to know. There's a production brewery in Jacksonville and an experimental brewery in Cartersville, GA that brews the exotic stuff (AmberBock and such if that's exotic enough for you). I'm pretty sure Millis Transfer still has the Cartersville brewery account. You run from the brewery to any number of distribution centers all around Florida and Georgia (and a couple places in South Carolina). If I gave it any thought, I could probably list them all. There are about 60 of them. You may or may not get a backhaul of dunnage and empty kegs back to the brewery.
One of the best things to know is the 866 number for checking on your load. That way you don't have to roll out of bed until its nearly ready.
Don't sling the trailer around if you are hauling canned beer cases. At least part of the load will be rejected because it has fallen over and spilled all over the inside of your trailer. Bottled beer is much easier. Be prepared to wait if you are picking up a draft beer load. The good thing is you normally will not have to wait at the distributor. Even at Bernie Little. Draft loads take priority. Bernie Little distributors suck, by the way.

Husband has hauled Anheiser Busch before for another company out of another state otr; he works now for another company otr and had a load out of Jacksonville, FL; this is the first time he has ever had problems with that type load being loaded wrong and overweight; it took 2x for the guy to load it the right way and that was only after calling customer service at his company and telling them he was not going to haul it that way. In the other plants a lot of times they were preloaded trailers he had hauled and we never had any trouble with the way it was loaded. This has been since April when he hauled this load, so I hope they got the guy either retrained or replaced before anyone else had to deal with him.

 

Just searched for Maris and I guess he had Gainesville and Ocala (and probably all the other Bernie Little points, like Sebring and Lakeland) so that would have made it a massive distributor. Probably a good idea to split it up into smaller distributors. I forget the name of the place that has Gainesville now, but I used to like going there. Pretty country drive from Jacksonville. And they are nice, which is a plus. Always grabbed the load on Saturday when I could going down there. Plus, they normally had a load of cans going back to the brewery from next door.

 

Sorry for the double post - what you describe is a door 40. They won't let you over the scales if it's not right. They'll make you back into door 40 and then take your paperwork to the dispatcher in the office at door 40. Then you wait until a forklift guy can get to you. Then you go back to the scalehouse, and they'll print the new bills for you. All told, it takes about an extra 45 minutes. Once you know the ins and outs of the place. it becomes alot less frustrating.

Warning: Not frustration free, just less.

 

There are other threads about the pros and cons of Dollar General here. Makes for good reading. I honestly don't know a thing about how Werner runs. I can only give info about the particulars of AB. Might not be a bad idea to start asking around about it, though. can't hurt.

 

I think they were having trouble with the guy that was supposed to be doing the loading that night since he had several trucks which had to be reloaded, I don't know if it would have been someone new would they have just gone on and left it that way or not (perhaps not if their scale will catch it) but who knows. But I'll keep this info for him. Usually Anheiser is one of the greatest loads to haul, no problems, done right, most generally ready when they say it is going to be. This night it was more like 5 hrs getting out of there.

 

It has to do with his fuel if it's a preloaded trailer. Each empty trailer that gets dropped on their yard has itS empty weight saved into the system. If a driver brings in a trailer that doesnt have it's empty weight in the system, the driver will have to get a bobtail weight so that the weight of the trailer and trailer only will be saved into the system. Our prostars were heavier then the volvos so if we went in with mote then 3/4 tank of fuel we'd be over gross. Normally we'd never have to take product off, only slide axles/fifthwheel.
