I think there's both, rim and center fire --- with center fire velocities up around 4,000 fps. I'll check Cabela's out later. Once I go there, I spend a LOT of time, dreamin' and droolin'.
I didn't know about the center fire. Never seen them. The .17 comes two ways. .17 HMR (what I have) and .17 mag which is a .22 magnum necked down.
Yep, there are both. The .17 HMR is the rimfire cartridge that has become real popular, lately. Thinking of getting one, myself. There are a ton of centerfire .17s, such as the .17 Remington and many other wildcat rounds out there. Oh, and some of them will surpass 4000 fps. Zippy little buggers.
Thanks Joe, learn some thing new every day. I have seen a .17 Rem mentioned before now, but they aren't real popular yet. Zippy........... yes they are. I like the Hornady round with the varmiter bullet. When that plastic tip pushes back into the bullet for max expansion there is a visible effect to the naked eye even at 125 yrs on a prairie dog. I won't be graphic here for the queasy readers but any body thats been prairie dog hunting knows what I'm talking about.
Now, that right thar is a helpful hint. Thanx, amigo. Swift's little brother? HuH? NO! Not Swift truckin'. I'm talkin' 'bout .220 SWIFT. You know, ---- barrel burners that'll put the rifling on the OUTside of the barrel if y'all fire the whole cilp real fast. There's three things ol' AfterShock really appreciates, ...... 1. Torque 2. Horsepower 3 HigH velocity. I'm thinkin' we've learned .17 thangs today. Would the word "Explode" describe the sight? :smt103 Dad-gummed lil varmints!
