    I've become more interested in 395 since the articles on The Walker Lane came out recently.

    That grade may change suddenly.

    Then why you are monitoring tectonic activity near US-395. You will not see landscape change in your life :)
    There are markers installed on San Andreas fault and you can see movement size within 15 years on that fault . It's not large shift..

    I'm not monitoring, not a scientist just a truck driver. I do want to explore that area more after reading tbe articles.

    Back in early 2000's Hoover dam was closed for trucks. The suggested route was from Kingman to Laughlin and then to Las Vegas. So if you would go to Vegas you would have 12 miles of 6% down grade to Laughlin. And there was a stop light at end of that grade :) Summertime it was hard to keep brakes cold. If you would come from Vegas you would have 15 miles of 7% on NV-163...
