I have to say that JBH must be THE worst company in the industry today. Well...ONE of the worst, as Swift and C.R. England are both still around.
Death before working for JB Hunt.

I was a driver for JB Hunt. I had a lot of problems with my Fleet Manager and told him if he did not quit harassing me, I would file a suit against him. 2 hours later I was thrown off my truck in the middle of the parking lot in the Dallas yard and was told I was suspended. 4 days later I was told that they "made a mistake", and put me back into a truck. I then sent a letter to the Human Resources at JB Hunt. 2 weeks later I was fired after having an accident (no ticket, less than $150.00 damage to a parked vehicle). Personally, I think they are the Trucking Company from Hell. When they fired me, they threw me out of the truck (again) in the middle of the Dallas yard with all my gear....over 1500 miles from home. The whole thing still amazes me.

I drove for Mr. J.B. Hunt, and life was good as long as you did not want to see your family. I was on their PPG Dedicated Account, great miles, out 11-14 off 3, ran 48 states ,but I was given a mid-roof with steering box probs. and all the shelving was ripped out of it. Since I left that Acct. they now have 2006-07 condos. Now onto the Lease issue... I was leasing a 2005 Freightliner Century Condo from them and they had 2 different Maint. Programs, the first one you can choose to have .05/.07 taken out per. mile put into a Maint. Acct. , and you can draw from it when you needed repairs, PM's, etc. The second one you can choose to have .09 taken out per. mile, and you were covered bumper-to-bumper just like it was a Company Truck. Well I chose the .09 per. mile, and had some minor repairs and Pm's done on the truck. Well after 6 months I turned the truck in to them, cause the money just wasn't there (like they said). About a month later I rec. a letter from them stating that I owed them $2500.00 for tires, which is funny cause roughly a month before I handed the truck in all the tires were replaced per. the Maint. Contract. I never rec. my last payment settlement and they stated that they were sending the info. to Credit Agencies and even DAT Svcs. So if anyone is looking to lease a truck from the YELLOWBELLYS J.B. Hunt, please seek advice

A few weeks ago. I received a call from a J.B. recruiter. She told me that they had a "local" job that I might be interested in. I said I might and she gave me the details.
1. It is a "new" account based in New Jersey, just over the bridge from PA.
2. Run approx 2200 miles per week.
She also told me about the drop and hook pay and stop pay.
It sounded good, and since I need to get back to work because nobody else wants me, I told her o.k.
She went over the details of the orientation and the like. The only problem was is that I couldn't start until 5-28*08. No problem my wife and I can deal with it.
Last week I contacted another young lady and confirmed the orientation. She stated that the position is full and I am "getting stuck" on the regional board. I told her that I was first in line for the new account I originally was called about. I contacted the first recruiter and explianed the situation. She said that she has no idea how I got ##$%^^&& and was put on the regional board. SHe also stated that she has to call another person to "get it staightened out". Well, this other person is in CA and has not gotten back to the person I am dealing with. I am supposed to call on Tuesday am and get an "update".
Can anybody help me out so I can get this mess strainghtened out?
Any help is appreciated.

It amazes me, They are called RECRUITERS for a reason, same thing as cheerleaders. Can't believe either of em, ya won't be home every night and make 90k and you aren't the only football player that they really care about.

Yep, it happened to me to when I started with them. I was suppose to be going to the PrimeSource account in Atlanta. When I arrived at orientation there were three of us there - all for PrimeSource - but the problem was that they only needed one driver so myself and the other guy were offered OTR.
However, I decided to stay & I acquired the Placement Director's phone #. I ran OTR for exactly one week before getting transferred to SE Regional. I stayed in contact with her and after only two months on Regional I finally made it over to the Walmart DCS account which was a local gig.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong but they will overbook an account just to make sure that they get that seat filled. They have folks who don't show for orientation or make it to orientation and then fail the physical or have some issue that prevents them from being hired - it kinda makes sense that they would overbook rather than going back thru the recruitment process and waiting another week or so for a driver.
It never fails to amaze though that one of the biggest complaints from drivers is about the recruiting department!
