Oh Lord the situations I get myself in........

some of you may know that im pretty new to the industry. Im being trampled all over by a company trying to pay my dues and desperately trying not to get thrown out of the industry on my butt. Due to my own past, there really arent alot of opportunities for me if I throw this current company out the window. Currently calling recruiters again DAILY. Have 4 motnhs exp. OTR. Have gotten good miles and been everywhere bout 4 times over at this point.........

Here is my current dilemma. Im with co-driver slackster. Its alright, he's laidback, we get along. We run good. Been out 6 weeks with him now, had hometime approved within first days on truck with him. I really havent been home with ladyfriend and daughter since early August, I swapped out codrivers, needed back OTR to earn.... Like I just said, we both have approved hometime scheduled for Wednesday. On my account I had my time approved the exact way I was told to by the company. i have followed through on my end of the deal. Im OTR, on duty, prepared for work, every moment Im not on hometime..... Slackster here has just had himself routed home last night. It cost us collectively a week of miles in order to get him through the house for 12 hours, He had told company he had DR. Appt. Yea right...... Went home to hit bars, use drugs, basically just to have one night off. Yes I tagged along(minus the nose candy.) Today comes, we get headed back toward Cali. I decide to send FM reminder that we have hometime scheduled for next week.

FM's exact response: I know, but I had to get slackster home for appt., and we need to keep that truck running since you've been slow on miles for 9 days.........

Um, this is the most unreal thing Ive ever been through. This company, this everything. Need to get solo so I can work my ### off and be accountable for myself.

Anyways, I have just forfeited my hometime because slackster wanted 12 hours off the truck. Havent seen woman or daughter since August, she's all pumped and still thinks Im coming home Wednesday.....

There's a question from a noobie in there somewhere. Answer it pls:biggrin_25512::biggrin_2552:

Even if he was "seriously" nose candied out it's out of his system now to report him,but If you can get the miles that you need go ahead and stay the course and get the time in that you need so you can go solo. Why jump from one company to another? Just looks bad on the resume'. Tell the GF to be cool and tell her whats going on and when you are solo you'll be able to get home on a regular schedule but to be cool for a while longer! Loves supposed to conquer all right?

not home since august? but at least you're making the big $$$, right? LOL!!!! seriously, if you don't want to drive a truck, just quit. if you DO want to stay in trucking, DON'T quit. you will NOT find another job. 4 months counts as ZERO experience.

    Crazyeyes,
unpredictiblity, long absences, missed birthdays/holidays/anniversarys are ALL part and parcel of the trucker lifestyle....

If you choose to stay with this, the sooner you and your family accept these facts, the better you will all be..

    Sorry, friend.

I would stick it out for at least 6 months. That's what i did and needless to say i didnt see home till i quit after six months. Fortunately i didn't have to team thou.

On another note ask to go solo or ask for a different person to team with. If that doesn't work let him get all coked up and drop the ball on his sorry ###.

Also this slacker wouldnt happen to live in or near cape girardeau?
