I called on a load TQL had on Internet truckstop. The posting said pickup in Boise ID. I went through the usual questions and before I asked the rate, He said it picked up in Jerome Id. not Boise. I said that is misleading, its 120 miles from Boise. He got offended at my comment of course. Then when I finally got him to give me the rate, it was about .85 cents per mile. So they cant even bother to post the actual facts, and then want us to haul it for 85cents. Just another reason to stay away from this type of cutthroats.
Another good laugh from TQL

What was it a load of? Where was it going? And why would you ever initiate a call to TQL?
EverLuc Thanks this. -
$.85? Something doesn't add up here. Nobody's taking a load for that.
-
Oh you would be surprised. I've seen FTL for cheaper than that out of rapid. The reason those loads are on there is because somebody is stupid enough to take them. When you're in those areas you're better off running partials out than hauling FTL out of there. Main thing is to bid your load going in at a round trip rate to cover the most of getting out. Take a page out of The bullhaulling book.

I had the same thing happen to me last week. I was in Rome, GA and the load was about 85 miles away, but it was posted in Rome, GA.
Anyway, as I called and asked about the load in Rome, GA I got the same old line I always get. "Whats your MC number?" then after a long winded discription of the load I get "What kind of rate would you need for that to work?" I explained, well I'm looking for freight here first without having to go anywhere. I then get the same old "well we can through in some extra for the deadhead". So I then said well if I was going to do the load I'd have to have $1600.(about 2.25 a mile or so).
I then said nicely, well if I can't find anything else then I'll get back to you on that. The attuitude felt from the voice over the phone made me what to scream!! The TQL broker said, I thought we had a deal. I said I'm looking for something closer first.
I don't know, but this isn't the first time I have gotten disrespected from just asking about a load from TQL. I too can't believe anything posted anywhere on any load boards. If the load is posted for Philadelphia, it could be in New Jersey, or Delware.areelius Thanks this. -
If you check the stats, the O/O pool is drying up..rapidly. They are obviously having trouble getting truckers at the cheap rate so they get out the coconut shells and start sliding them around hoping you cant find the ball. Anything to not pay you more money. It's only gonna get worse IMO. The .85 cent boys will find out quick you can't run for that especially when faced with a tire bill for 5 grand or a tranny / clutch job for $7500. A premium Cat overhaul is pulling 20k. You are not going to pay for that running for .85 cpm.
Best thing to do is not play along, know your game and play your game.

TQL is the next upcoming CH.As a matter of fact CH Robison is the leader in revenue in all of trucking.Followed by the JB's and Schnieders...
I for see L/S selling out there BCO's WITHIN 8 YEARS and becoming the next CH and TQL...No one wants the Liability anymore and are realizing CH Robinson idea is the way to go..You can make Millions and have ZERO LIABILITY...Mark my words,Landstar is next to go this way. -

I have a couple tips for you.
First, if a TQL call center operator (they're not brokers) gets upset, just tell them, "Oh well, phone calls are cheap. Ask your CEO, it's a fundamental part of your company's business model".
Also, if they give you the, "It's actually coming out of ...." routine, just tell them, "No problem, I just add $500 to my rate when loads aren't posted correctly". And make them sit there and wait as you slowly, very slowly, enter the locations into google maps and recalculate the mileage. If they seem bothered, remind them that posting the load correctly would have avoided this delay. And if they seem bothered when you don't want to haul for their suggested rate, remind them that it is possible to list a rate for the load and avoid people calling desiring a much higher rate.TheDude1969, barnmonkey, trees and 5 others Thank this.
