It doesn't explain why this guy choose this trucking company and this guys truck to attach the pipe bombs to. Must be more to this story then the company is saying. Disgruntled employee perhaps, maybe taking revenge on the driver for fooling around with his old lady..could be a few things behind this..gonna follow the story and see where it goes.
Good thing he checked his truck though. People are crazy enough to start doing stuff like this, there crazy enough to do worse.

there MUST be a LOT more to this story

you can do a pre-trip and depending on the location of the bomb, miss it

what is interesting is that he found this bomb.........how many of us conduct such a detailed inspection of our trucks? and now, with this one-off occurrence, we will have a new level of fear and rules and probably fines (nothing like making a few bucks in the process)

most of us are looking for leaks, wear, broken things during a pre-trip, especially that early morning pre-trip. Most of us do the pretrip while we are fueling or getting (un)loaded

The story says that other pipebombs were found earlier that week around the neighborhood. I am assuming he just wanted a bigger boom so they went with the truck

Received the same caution from safety some years back when we ran the border. Seems the cartel would target and track a truck and if he did the same thing again use him as a drug decoy.

Your unit would be fitted with say a pound of coke or something hidden on the frame and theirs would be loaded for the U.S. interior........You leave and they follow way behind.......... they call the law on you ( with a tip ) at some point up north and get you stopped, the distraction lets them roll right by.

This happened to a competitor which is how we found out. After which we contracted the loads to a common carrier unless it was live unload.

Ahhhh....nothing says love quite like a bouquet of pipe bombs. With a free glass vase, of course.
