You can make good money, but not really good money. Of course it is all relevant.

60-75K per driver is what I'd call good money, anybody making less than 50K is doing something wrong.

You and your wife, combined, should make 120K plus, with some experience !!!!!

If you are in it for the money, why settle for less, right ??

Alright, now you have my full attention. I don't want to do this based on money. I'd rather do it because I would enjoy it and have some independence and even for some adventure (as corny as that may sound), but these numbers are nothing to scoff at. There aren't too many professions that can look on 120K as peanuts, and I'm not in one of them. I'm all about jumping into something with both feet. Absolutely, if you're going to do it, do it right or don't bother. Any thing less is settling for second best.

Question: Would this be as a team driving for a carrier, O/O's leased to a carrier, or a team driving independently under its own authority? (notice how I'm getting the lingo down?)

Wow! I do like the obvious benefits of working for a good company, and by benefits I mean just that - benefits. I'm waiting to make a move of any kind until my house sells which won't happen until early next year - long story. At that point I will have the neccessary capital to pay for training and whatever else we would need. It seems that the overwhelming majority in the other threads are recommending that newbies pay their own way through a tech school/community college and then have the freedom to pursue a position with a good company. So, I'll cool my heels for now. But thanks again for the feedback. I really think this is something I should definitely explore further.

What company are you guys talking about? All I've ever heard from the large companies is the talk NEVER the walk. Maybe I did something wrong but I'm not too sure about that either.
