Sorry, shouldn't have let it hang like that. I was pinned with my foot being caught between the pallet and sidewall. It did bruise the hell out of it, and I just knew it had smashed it to a pulp. But, I got very lucky. Nothing broken. The most traumatic part of it was being pinned there, at the back of a business with nobody around. Cellphone was in the cab. Finally, the receiver decided to open up and unload me. Probably stuck there for 5-10 minutes, that seemed much longer. I missed a couple of days, and then we had a long weekend and I was back to work. Limping and bruised, but a bit more careful. (At least for a while...)

Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this.

    Could be worse.

That could have been a liftgate unload.

That would have actually been BETTER. At that time, our only lift gate was on a bobtail that was operated by somebody else!

But along those same lines, they tried to get the bobtail to pickup a load that was 4 pallets each one over 3000#. When he told them his lift gate wouldn't lift that weight, they argued with him. (Anybody who puts 3000# on a pallet that is handled with anything less than a fork lift should be taken out and shot, anyway. . .)

I've once had to deal with 300 gallon totes of iron oxide mulch colorant. 4100 lbs apiece.

It took all I could do to pump my pallet jack to lift those.

    Sheesh...
What is the weight rating on your pallet jack? I used to know, but don't remember.

    5500 lbs...

Still though, like I said, they were NOT easy to lift let alone move.

I dunno, but it seems like our were rated somewhere around 3K. But it's been a long time, and I'm likely wrong about that. I also seem to remember hearing that our liftgates were rated at 2500. But I never had occasion to question that.:D

:bootyshake:Workers die all the time as well as get injured on the job. All accidents are preventable. Just pay attention, don't be in a hurry. The con gear incident is easily preventable. A con gear weighs 2000 lbs and it rolls. So block the wheels when left sitting......DUH I mean come on. Even pushing it back from the pintle hook it can roll back into the pintle hook. And then double check (in your mirror) when you pull away. And don't park your car in the truck parking area either. !

3000 lbs is fairly common for that.
