I'm on a load from PA to Florida I get here and the seal is missing. I checked the seal throughout the trip and it was there. I slept in SC at a pilot last night and that's one place I didn't look when I left.
The seal is a bolt type that you need bolt cutters to cut. Not sure if someone cut it or it wasn't properly put on from the shipper. I watched him put the seal on but I guess you have to physically pull on it to make sure it's locked.
Anyway doesn't look like any product is missing and I called my company but they are unloading now I will find out.
I'm pissed and worrying at the same time that something might be missing.
Def a learning lesson here to make sure that bolt is engaged and check every stop pretrip and posttrip.
Another learning lesson

If we're talking about the typical trailer door latch setup where the bolt is vertical when in place, even if the seal end was not put on good, and fell off, it's hard to imagine the rest of it bouncing up and out (unless it was put on upside down)
Was this maybe product most thieves would not be interested in and they passed on taking some?MachoCyclone Thanks this. -
If they didn’t say nothing when they started unloading your probably good. They will just keep you there a few extra hours to count the product. Your company also already contacted them about it most likely.

Good to go nothing was missing. I have a big ### padlock you can only cut with a torch but I don't use it because it my opinion it screams high dollar #### in here come jack me for it.

You're lucky.
If that ever happens again' and you may have done it this time, but make sure you yourself count that product with them..
Sometimes they make a mistake and sometimes they just want an excuse to get some free stuff and make a claim, or they want to make a point to the trucking company that their drivers have to be more vigilant in guarding their product.
Glad it all worked out for you. -
Just weld the latch shut next time. No need for seals.

Better yet I'll hire a sniper to lay on the roof of my trailer to protect my cargo.
