I know, by now everyone should be tired of seeing these threads but they just keep popping up because of how great Prime is to start with. I just got approved for orientation today and I will be there starting orientation on July 5th. I'm going to try and get in on the night of the 3rd or the morning of the 4th to return my rental and hopefully see some fireworks on the 4th. I worked as a yard jockey (I know, we're the devil!) for 9 years at a warehouse here in Ga and Prime was one of our core carriers. For the last year and half I have been working as an EMT and I'm ready to hit the road and make more money. If anyone else is going to be in Sprimo for orientation on the 5th let me know.

Few things, why in the world of your an EMT would you want to do OTR? And why if you had a local trucking job would you want to sleep in a truck every night?

I came to prime July 5th last year. I wouldn't advise coming during/after a holiday. If it's anything like I experienced, you'll blow throw orientation, and wait almost two weeks before trainers get back from holiday home time.

    Welcome to the crew.

At least you're not taking the demon dog. Good to get in early to get settled and nerves calmed.I've seen some people get in late on day before classes start and then they're all grouchygrumpy on "chaos day" (that's what I call it)

An advance welcome & good luck.

Exciting time for you, I'm sure.

I have always wanted to play around with one of them yard dog trucks. Amazing what you guys can do with them at times.

My last student was a retired EMT of 28yrs. I was very shocked at how low the pay was for such a critical job with folks lives in your hands. Just doesn't seem right, considering the responsibility you have.

Best to you & hope it winds up a good fit for your circumstances.

Exciting and very nervous time . The first time I ever backed a drivers trailer for him with his truck I actually looked over my left shoulder expecting a rear facing window to be there o_O. They spoil you for sure. Being an EMT is a super fun job, and very rewarding. But the pay is abominably low. I've wanted to see what this great country of ours looks like for a while now and I figure this is a great way to do it, even if all I see is trees and buildings from the interstate it will be a good time!

I don't know what you'll be pulling but man, almost every shipper I go to is infested with prime LW Cascadias. I drove LW t680 for a year, but was home a lot. So, wasn't big of a deal, but still. I'd break stuff, cause wasn't enough room to put it anywhere. Good luck tho, Prime is a decent company. I think you guys have gym in some terminals and movie theater.

Rule #1: When it dought, go slow and ask questions. Works every time
Rule #2: Get a Trucking atlas and when in dought refer back to rule #1 ;)
Rule #3: Have fun and refer back to rule #1 when in dought :)

If you want to see this country, take the US highways not the interstates. That's why I say get an atlas, you'll see what I mean when you do.

Welcome to one of the best places to work and your new family :)
