It realy ticks me off when I read these posts.. A trainer picks up a "student" and they hit the road as if they're a TEAM!!!
You are NOT a team he is suppose to be sitting in the seat along side of you watching you drive the WHOLE TIME... TEACHING YOU! (not occasionaly.. )
I read a post in here a new guy drove for 10 hrs straight with a 10 min. break!! what the heck is that?
Why is everyone giving "high fives" and congrads???? This is not the way it's suppose to work it's the way these big companies are.. turning a blind eye and denying any wrongdoing.. Drivers are too inexperianced to tell the company "NO"
Always rember YOU are the captain of YOUR own ship (the truck) and ONLY YOU can decide whether the truck rolls down the road or not. DO NOT let someone sitting behind a desk 2000 mi. away make decisions for you! His or her butt is not on the line, yours is.. It's YOUR CDL that'll take the hit for an accident or worse. No skin off the desk jockey's nose.
These big companies get away with their turning their heads the other way because it's not a law to have a trainer in the seat allong side of you once you have your license.. As soon as it's in your hand your "theoriticaly" good to go! The ink doesn't even have to be wet.. No further training "required" but now come on... who's ready right outa school... Am I the only one who sees a problem with this?? I'm concerned and even a bit scared to hear that this practice is going on more & more today...notezbngrn71 Thanks this. -
. we get paid by the trip, so no miles milking. he did all the hard driving, or was in the shotgun seat when he let me do the harder stuff. i didnt feel i needed him during regular interstate driving, so it was cool. just got back from my 4th trip and i've learned so much. still learning every day.

sorry for abandoning the post. i've been running my rear end off getting these loads out. not much time left for my ttr family after spending time with my wife and youngun. but now I have a smartphone! so anyway, alls well on my end. lots of turning and burning, with very little sitting.
of th nine or so people I have kept tabs with from school ( the ones who actually found a job) I have driven more than double the miles than all but one, and he runs team with his dad, who is a totally independent owner op. and I still consistently drive at least a third more miles than him. and I mean actual times behind the wheel. I have a permanent co driver, and we have it worked out so that we can pick up in north carolina, drop in california, pick up in either california or arizona, deliver to landover maryland, and be home in nc all in roughly five days.
I feel I am getting alot of experience. did anyone else drive the "ice road" between dallas and sweetwater last week? I did. and yes I do feel that to be an accomplishment. AND I got to drive over donner's pass. anyway, I'll post some of my experiences when I get a chance to get to my pc.
oh, and admins, please setup for tapatalk. it woyld make life that much easier for us slighty more ."tech savvy" people.Lady K and Spacecoast Thank this.
