I used to stop there often when on a NJ-Fla run. I have stopped quite a few times to see the empty lot in Garysburg. It makes you sick to know that an underground leak would make TA just abandon the truck stop. You will really enjoy the book.
Also how about Rhodes Truck Stop on US 301 in Santee, SC? One of those complete travel centers with restaurant, motel and truck stop all in one. It's also an empty field and rumor was it was a center for illegal activities but not sure.
The TA in Troutville, Va on I-81 was torn down by the state of Va. who bought it to build a new interchange for highways in the area. I'll think of some more and we'll continue.

The one I was thinking about was a Texaco Truck Stop just past the 39 exit. I also believe there was a 76 Truck Stop at I-4 and Hwy 98 in Lakeland.
I thought of another up north for you. In Bartonsville, Pa. there was a Pure Truck Stop, then it became a 76 and then an independent. It was torn down to make a mall. It was on I-80 just west of the NJ line (Del. Water Gap). -

Bartonsville, huh? I haven't heard of that one. So sad to hear it was bulldozed for yet another shopping mall. It's all about the bottom line these days and what businesses will make the most money, not what matters to hardworking folk like truck drivers.
