I witness this practice daily. Absolute idiocy. No sense…no skills. A primary reason I can’t wait to retire.

Been out here a bit over five years and I’ve still never once parked on a ramp or on the shoulder for my break. Bad case of diarrhea did it once for a few minutes, that was it…I like to be comfortable when I’m in the bunk trying to sleep I don’t want to be sitting there with one eye open waiting to hear someone slam into me. Even in a truckstop, I don’t usually fall asleep until both of the slots next to me have the trucks backed into them. I’ve been hit three times parked at a truckstop, while a newbie is backing and taking off my bumper. That makes me nervous enough. I can’t imagine parking on an offramp at 2 AM in the morning on a Saturday. Waiting for some drunk to come flying down the off ramp at 100 miles an hour in smash into my truck.
