    The road was closed? Why?

It didn't look bad other than the wind blowing.

Man...That guy is the poster boy for steering wheel holders! What an #######!
The roads were not bad at all and he just hauled ### straight into a couple of other idiot steering wheel holders that don't know how to drive either.

Guys with that kind of talent are exactly what is wrong with the trucking industry!

Can some post the video letter code so I can see it too? (The jumble of letters after v= in the URL).

It occurred to me as my mind was wandering yesterday (don't say it... I know...)

Acting all important while sitting on the shoulder looking like a putz, he said the Swift stopped to ask him a question. What do you want to bet the question Swift asked him was:

"Hey, guy, you okay or do ya need some help?"

I'm probably gonna get a lashing, but I would've been roll'n too. From what I seen of the road conditions in the early part of the video, I too would've been passing the cars and running the speed he was. It just takes common sense when running in these conditions. Run within your comfort zone, adjust your speed to visibility and ease out of it when you're going around others. I realize everyone's comfort zone is different and will never criticize a driver for running slower then the rest, but the last thing I want, is to run in a pack. That maybe fine for others, but it gets ugly fast when things go wrong. There was nothing wrong with being out there. The interstate wasn't closed at the time or he would've never gotten on it. It's obvious this guy was running too fast for visibility in that stretch of road or he was too busy play'n with his vid camera or whatever else distracts him and didn't have time to react.
I know some may disagree with this, but I won't sit in a truck stop just because the roads aren't ideal. I run from WI to NYC every week and at this time of year we deal with lake effect across IN, OH and into PA just about every week or run with a system all the way across. It's winter and just another day at the office :)

Don't take this as over confidence. I respect the snow for what it is. The day I loose that respect is the day it's time to quit driving.

I was disappointed, I was hoping the rest of this video were going to more instructional driving vids. But they were mostly him fixing cars, and rambling on about other stuff.

Oh and the early part of the video shows pretty clear roads, he didn't actually show the part where he decided to plow between two parked trucks because he was going too fast for conditions.

I agree with you driver....The point made by the video was that that driver was a Stupid Mother ######!
Drving in weather like that REQUIRES good judgment and solid skills, Two thing that that doofus obviously doesn't have. He's so intent on showing us how good he is and on badmouthing drivers from other companies that were NOT involved in the wreck that he completely overlooks that fact that HE IS THE MAIN PROBLEM ON THE ROAD IN THAT VIDEO!

It's a shame but there are alot of driver's just like this guy out there, he is too busy pointing the finger at other's when he should be pointing at himself. As far as the swift driver goes I can't see him making fun of him when he's the one who was going too fast and got into a wreck with 2 parked trucks. If you feel like it's dangerous you need to park and get off the road period, there's no load in the world worth your's or someone else's life. Too many try to make a good impression and push forward when they know they should stop, but instead they keep pushing and alot of times try going way too fast for the condition's they are facing. I think that today's drivers are under the idea that they have to go regardless, and I understand we all have to make a check because if we didn't there wouldn't be as many out here. But for just a second we need to think about what the condition's are and who all could be affected by the worst case senario, the wife or husband, kids, mom and dad, other's that you may hit or be hit by and their families? Forget about the dispatcher, owner, shipper, etc, you can and will be replaced if something happens to you, what matters to most (not all) is that load and sadly not the driver. Remember you need to look out for yourself because they aren't looking at it the same as you are. Be safe, see you on the road:biggrin_25519:

"the only thing I have to deal with is other cars going slower than me"

He clearly was only concerned with reaching his destination and not the safety of others

As he said later in the video, he would have made it home that night if'n he hadn't wrecked.

Might be a lesson to us all the next time we push ourselves harder because it means it will get us home. I admit that I have done it, and I bet most other drivers have too. As much as it would suck, sometimes it's better to just not get home until the next morning.

Roads didn't look all that bad early in the video. Sometimes hard to interpret without seeing with your own eyes, but I think I would have headed out too, but used a lot more caution. Then, he didn't adjust when the conditions got worse. Just simple overconfidence and trying to push himself too hard for what was out there.
