i've called watkins 4 times before within a week period. Filled out my app, nothing in my past, so I don't know why they wouldn't call back. I'm close to NYC.

Many carriers want new hires to have a mentor for a few days to a few weeks based on their experience level and skill set. This is not an insult to a new hire and should not be viewed as such. Having a veteran driver show you the ropes for a few days can be very helpful in getting you up to speed faster, and the faster you learn a new companies system the faster you can start making some decent money.
You could try an online search for trucking companies that accept student drivers and then start calling them. Usually any driver with less than 1 year of verifiable OTR experience is still considered a beginner.SupaTruka Thanks this.
