friends count?
I have only 1 and it was some newbie who added me after I answered some questions, i dont seek out to add friends but I will consider any of you I chat with nightly as a friend!
anyway thats besides the point, yeah a lot of this stuff is common knowledge, you can write a whole book about what drivers should and should not do and make them read it, will this change the driver? umm no, normally a driver wont change his habits unless something drastic happens to them rather its an accident, fat ticket or whatever and still some wont change. I can make a topic every single day about horrible drivers both 4 wheelers and 18 wheelers but thats a waste of time especially since all of us see it with our own eyes every single day.Bigbellytrucker Thanks this. -
Then i apologize for mu arrogance. Just trying something to help people out. And i am a current driver but i will not hand out my driver code. I just started driving back in july. And my creditibility is what you make of it. I know i havent had an accident or ticket or problem at a weigh station since ive been driving. If youre still not satified then ask me something about the trucks or something a driver should know.

Good for you, no accidents or incidents to date. But, it's the ####iness you displayed feeling you suddenly now have the experience to be giving out advice, that will set you up for an accident.
And you are a high risk, you have just enough experience to think you've got it. You don't. Winter's coming and you are about to get a lesson in the real hard facts of what it takes to do this job. Good luck. -
yep winter makes or breaks a lot of drivers im told, some quit after they hit their first winter. I only got a glimpse of winter when it was snowing in April when I was heading to Denver, my mentor stayed in the front and coached me through the driving, slowed down, had to stop and clean wiper blades several times etc. I didnt have to chain though so that is still a first experience im waiting for, i have chained a car but never a truck yet.

I understand the winter making or breaking a driver. And sometimes i get a reality check when im doing stupid. I encourage my dm to send me north so i can get that on the job training and so far ive been caught in the winter storm that hit wyoming a couple weeks ago and the storms that rolled thru the eastern side of utah and western side of colorado...still havent needed to chain yet tho but that might change as im heading to cali via donner and i hear they have the chain laws up n running there. Ill change the heading of my thread so that i dont look like an ### moreso than i already do now. And youre right, i do have experience...but enough to think i can dish out advice...seeing myself now i realize how much of an ### ive made myself.

donner isnt as bad as some drivers will make you think, I dont think you will need to worry about chains right now through there, if you are driving at night then just be carefull since the temps have been dipping in the 20's and can find ice. There is a chance of snow predicted for next Saturday.

Hmm challenge accepted. And turns out i cant edit the start posting...so another mistake to learn from. And honestly i have found that im getting more loads because im asking for the ones headed northbound. Have had a couple of close calls but i seem to work my way out...like example when the storm hit wyoming i was headed down elk mtn and i hit a patch of ice near the bottom, if it werent for the manual trlr break i might have lost it right then...wasnt going too fast nor dis i have my jakes on..just a bad turn i guess..or i might have actually been going too fast...not sure which..

be careful using that trailer brake, if the tires lose traction then locking up the brakes will just keep the tires skidding, you need to slow down and let the tires regain traction

And roger, i did just enough to try n slow em not enough to lock em and speeding up the tractor would have been worse lol. Instincts i think is what helped. Or dumb luck lol probably tue latter of the two
