starboyjim the top rate now is .43 for van and .44 for flatbed, that is .38 (.39 flatbed) base plus .05 diamond rank.Swift does start you low, that's for sure. They bring you up fast though.

Post trip only needs to be flagged ... go off duty for at least 5 minutes, then go on duty and do your DVIR and MAC 10, then go back off duty or into sleeper. As long as the on duty is less than 5 minutes it will not count on your log as on duty, but will show as a flag during a log audit that you were on duty for your post trip.

    Bigbellytrucker Thanks this.

what he said, I dont know everything for sure but I try my best to learn as much as I can when I can and I will share things I do learn with others especially since there are some out there who want to know but wont ask. I do spend a few minutes every single night on here and when I have a decent amount of down time im on here a lot at least reading but not always posting, I also spend time talking to other drivers even in other companies. Spent a couple hours swapping info and stories with a Knight driver while we sat at the shipper next to each other for several hours on Friday.

I can care less who you are and what company you work for or for how long you have been driving, I will show respect and expect it back either way. I have seen rookies who do well and I have seen vets with a lot of years who lack knowledge or at least lack sense.

"Although you are driving the truck you are steering the trailer. Always. "
Something I was told by an old timer in 1971 when I started driving that I have never forgotten.

That could happen yes but im always paying attention to what that trailer is doing especially thru tight construction or on wet or frozen roads.

yeah but it is indeed easy to forget, I have forgotten once and learnt my lesson stressing almost hitting a pole. I wont slide mine just because I dont want to forget, if the wind is that bad I dont mind pulling over and doing a late macro.

Me too. I have come to realize that the DOT isn't big enough to be watching every driver's logs. The company does that, and, most likely, reports to the DOT on a scheduled basis. I have also found that the "Safe Haven" clause is yours and my friend. If you need a few extra minutes to get to a safe stop and park, don't worry about it....it's OK. One old driver told me that if you're less than 15 minutes over, you'll never hear from anybody. I don't necessarily believe that, but I do believe there's some slack for drivers in the Safe Haven finding.

If you're hooked to a trailer, or under dispatch, you're not to use Line 5.

I recently ran 100% per DOT regulation...got my hours in 5 days, ran about 2,100 miles that week. I now use lines 1 and 2 enthusiastically.

I wish I could use line 5 as a company driver

I have been over on time a couple times but never heard a thing, recently over 21min, most was like 28min
